2 hours, 8 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP) — An eye-popping baseball record will be set even before the first pitch of the 2015 season is thrown. Fueled by the largest two-year growth in more than a decade, the average salary projects to be about $4.25 million, with the final figure depending on how many players are put on the disabled list. That is up from $3.95 million on the first day of last season and $3.65 million when 2013 began.

USDA: Record soybean acreage expected this year, 2 percent fewer corn acres due to low prices

2 hours, 8 minutes ago

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Farmers are expected to plant a record number of soybean acres this year, but fewer acres of corn as profit potential for the grain remains low due to slumping prices, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday in its first report of the new crop season. Farmers indicated plans to plant a record high 84.6 million acres in soybeans, up 1 percent from last year. But corn acres will fall for the third consecutive year to 89.2 million acres, down 2 percent from last year and the fewest since 2010.

Google inserts Pac Man video game into digital maps to get an early start on April Fools' Day

2 hours, 18 minutes ago

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The virtual streets of Google Maps are being transformed into Pac Man's chomping grounds in celebration of April Fools' Day. The gag on Google Maps enables visitors to click on a Pac-Man symbol in the lower left of the screen to play the video game on whatever location is listed in the address bar. As has been happening for nearly 35 years, Pac Man eats blinking dots while trying to elude four "ghosts" — Pinky, Blinky, Inky and Clyde.
