MOSCOW (AP) — Russia has bailed out a mid-sized bank for about $500 million to save it from bankruptcy— a clear sign that the slide in the value of the ruble in the wake of falling oil prices is straining the banking system. Major Russian banks said they had no interest in acquiring Trust, a top 30 Russian bank with about $5 billion in assets.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Trump Entertainment Resorts says a new $20 million pledge by billionaire investor Carl Icahn will give it time to restructure while keeping the struggling Taj Mahal casino open. It also comes without some of the conditions upon which Icahn had insisted as part of a plan that would transfer ownership of the Atlantic City, New Jersey casino to him.

Will it deflate too soon? Does it slow me down?: Skiers concerned about airbag safety system

VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — Some skiers are concerned they will turn into the puffy "Michelin Man" when they are not supposed to. Others are afraid they will lose precious hundredths of a second due to slightly more wind resistance. And still more believe that their movements will be restricted. Whatever the reasons, few — if any — skiers are expected to use a radical new airbag safety system in January when it will be cleared for use in World Cup downhill races.
