LOS ANGELES (AP) — Steve McQueen's historic saga "12 Years a Slave" topped the nominations list for 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Wednesday, boosting its Academy Awards prospects with four nominations. The SAG nominations are one of Hollywood's first major announcements on the long road to the March 2 Oscars. The Golden Globe nominations will be revealed Thursday morning.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Federal officials report that only 372 South Dakota residents successfully signed up for a health insurance plan through a federally run marketplace during its first two months in operation. But officials say signups in South Dakota have grown significantly since the federal government's reporting date of Nov. 30. Avera Health Plans now reports enrolling 734 so far through the exchange, while Sanford Health Plan has enrolled 173.

JDS Uniphase Corp., a maker of testing equipment for communications networks, said Wednesday that it plans to buy privately-held Network Instruments for $200 million in cash. The deal is expected to close within 45 days and increase JDS Uniphase's adjusted earnings starting in the fourth quarter of 2014.

(AP) — New figures show that Kansans remained slow to embrace a federally run online health insurance marketplace in November even though the pace of enrollments in health plans increased. However, the enrollment figure as of Nov. 2 was only 371. The October rollout of the online marketplace under the federal health overhaul was plagued by problems, and in November, the federal agency was working on fixing them.
