Google asks FISA court to lift gag order

Google on Tuesday sharply challenged the federal government's gag order on its Internet surveillance program, citing what it described as a First Amendment right to divulge how many requests it receives from the government for data about its customers in the name of national security. The publication of such data requests would answer questions about the number of Google users or accounts affected by U.S. intelligence activities. But it wouldn't answer more critical questions on how much data is being disclosed, including whether information belonging to Americans has been swept up into investigations on a foreign targets.
Court: Ex-Im Bank needs to explain Air India loan

A federal bank that backed a huge airplane loan for Air India will have to explain that the loan didn't hurt U.S. airlines. The Court of Appeals in Washington did not force the bank to reverse the loan guarantee, as Delta had asked. But the ruling says the bank needs to follow the law and provide more justification for the loan.
Google asks FISA court to lift gag order

Google is asking the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to lift its long-standing gag order on how often the company is asked to turn over data about its customers to the federal government. Google is among nine Internet companies identified earlier this month as complicit in a broad Internet surveillance program, called PRISM, that's run by the National Security Agency. Revelation of the program's details by a former NSA contractor has sparked a national debate about the privacy of Americans' communications from government monitoring.
