CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa company hopes its corn-based vodka will succeed because of a new process that eliminates impurities in the finished liquor. The OZ Spirits company was started in 2012 by Johannes Van Leeuwen after he developed the process for creating vodka with zero impurities at Iowa State University. The company said its new IngeniOz vodka doesn't have any impurities.

The quest to keep its accreditation status has some school board members concerned the degree program will end, while its foundation denied the school is in danger of closing.

OHSU's $100 million anonymous donor is Columbia Sportswear's Boyle; donated to honor sister

(AP) — The anonymous donor that gave $100 million to Oregon Health & Science University last month has been revealed to be Columbia Sportswear's chairwoman Gert Boyle, and the donation was made to honor her late sister. Knight Cancer Institute head Brian Druker says that when he was a grad student in California, he was mentored by Boyle's sister, Hildegard Lamfrom. Druker then met Boyle and told her about working with her sister.

Officials search for cause of leaks in Lake White Dam; water closed to recreational activity

WAVERLY, Ohio (AP) — Leaks found at a dam have led the state to ask boat owners to remove their boats from Lake White while inspectors check for the cause. "They had an employee notice the water coming outside of the spillway and reported it to our dam safety staff," Andy Ware, deputy director for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, told the Chillicothe Gazette.
