The tugs are bringing the crippled ship on a four-day journey to Genoa, the northwestern Italian mainland port and home to the ship's owner, Costa Crociere Spa. The vessel will be reduced to scrap at the port.

Global stock markets bolstered by solid US corporate earnings, home sales

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Global stocks mostly rose Wednesday, bolstered by solid U.S. earnings and home sales as tensions between Russia and the West over Ukraine eased. Futures augured a tentative advance on Wall Street. S&P 500 and Dow Jones futures each inched up 0.1 percent. Markets have been roiled the past week by heightened tensions between Russia and the West after a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over an area of eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russia separatists, killing all 298 people on board. The tensions eased Tuesday after the separatists released a train packed with bodies and handed over the aircraft's black boxes.

LONDON (AP) — British lawmakers say the country is still exporting arms and military equipment to Russia, despite the government's call for tough sanctions over Moscow's arming of separatist rebels in Ukraine. The licenses cover sniper rifles, night sights, small arms ammunition, gun mountings, body armor, military communications equipment, and "equipment employing cryptography."
