Asia Markets mostly down as investors eye Fed

Asian markets opened mostly lower Wednesday as investors waited for an update on the U.S. economy from the Federal Reserve and for some clarity from the Fed about its future course. Stocks in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul went south. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down 1.2 percent to 20,970.42, while South Korea's KOSPI index shed 0.7 percent to 1,886.85. Shares fell in New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.

Award-winning journalist and war correspondent Michael Hastings, whose unflinching reporting ended the career of a top American army general, died early Tuesday in a car accident in Los Angeles, his employer and family said. "Michael was a great, fearless journalist with an incredible instinct for the story, and a gift for finding ways to make his readers care about anything he covered from wars to politicians," said Ben Smith, BuzzFeed's editor-in-chief.
Malaysia budget airport launch pushed to May 2014

The opening of a new airport to accommodate budget carriers has been delayed until next year because of design changes and other construction setbacks, Malaysia's airport operator says. The airport operator said in a statement that the 4 billion ringgit ($1.27 billion) airport, dubbed KLIA2, was originally slated to open in mid-2012 but was delayed due to design changes. The contractors also have blamed poor ground conditions for the delay.
Cape Wind gets $200M investment from Danish fund

The Cape Wind offshore wind project has secured a $200 million investment from a Danish pension fund in what the wind farm's president said Tuesday is a milestone for the long-delayed project. The $2.6 billion Cape Wind project aims to be the United States' first offshore wind farm. But the project, proposed in 2001, has been beset by lengthy review and entrenched opposition and has been seeking investors.
