DENVER (AP) — A tangy fermented tea called kombucha has moved from the natural foods aisle to the mainstream. But it's also moved into the hot seat amid renewed concerns that it can contain low levels of alcohol. Kombucha is a tea that has been fermented with bacteria and yeast, giving it a tart, vinegar-like zip and high levels of bacteria that some consider to impart health benefits. And its hugely popular. Sales of kombucha jumped nearly five times between 2013 and 2015, to about $600 million a year, according to retail analysts at Markets and Markets.

Southwest systems appear to be in full recovery after hundreds of flights delayed Sunday

A day after technology issues delayed hundreds of flights, operations appear to have returned to normal Monday for Southwest Airlines. The Dallas carrier had been warning passengers to arrive at the airport two hours early Monday and print boarding passes beforehand, but airline officials now say that travelers should expect a normal day.

UK/US dual citizen Angus Deaton wins Nobel economics prize for work on consumption, poverty

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Princeton University's Angus Deaton won the Nobel prize in economics Monday for his wide ranging work on consumption that's helped redefine the way poverty is measured around the world, notably in India. The secretary of the award committee Torsten Persson said Deaton's research has "really shown other researchers and international organizations like the World Bank how to go about understanding poverty at the very basic level so that's perhaps the finest and most important contribution he has made."
