Farmers markets make economic impact in Wyoming

The Wyoming Business Council says those little farmers markets in the state have a big impact on the economy. Data compiled by the council's Agribusiness Division says the markets contributed more than $2.2 million to the state's economy in 2012. There were direct sales of about $1.7 million, which generated secondary sales of more than $527,000. The study found that the markets supported the equivalent of about 20 jobs with income totally nearly $525,000.
Dow plans to use Kuwait payment to pay off debt

The Dow Chemical Co. said Friday that it plans to use part of its recent payment from Petrochemical Industries Co. of Kuwait to pay off up to $2 billion in debt this year. The Midland, Mich.-based chemical company said Friday that it's also looking at other ways to reduce high-cost debt. The company said that once complete, its current and planned moves are expected to reduce its annual interest costs by more than $100 million.
Conn. House approves home foreclosure help bill

Connecticut's House of Representatives has approved a bill that would expand protections for homeowners facing foreclosure. The proposal would require homeowners and bank officials to mediate in good faith or face penalties including fines or dismissal of the foreclosure action. It also would reduce delays, cut down on paperwork, prevent homeowners in foreclosure mediation from facing foreclosure-related litigation and make it easier to foreclose on abandoned properties to reduce blight.
