Maserati recalling 7,438 cars for safety defect
1 day ago
Maserati is recalling 7,438 cars in the U.S. because of a defect that could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles. The recall involves the Quattroporte sedan from the 2005 through 2008 model years and the Granturismo and Alfa Romeo 8C sports cars from the 2008 model year. Maserati says the rear tie rods, which transmit force from the steering wheel to the wheels, don't have enough anti-corrosion material on them. A noisy suspension is one sign that they are corroding. If they fail completely, the driver could lose control of the vehicle.
Parking fees at California state beaches heat up

Environmentalists contend the fees amount to monetizing the coast.

Among them is Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a GOP establishment favorite running to claim a Democratic-held Senate seat next year in West Virginia. Capito took $2,000 from the union last September, Federal Election Commission records show.

Even before the first drops flow, Uganda's oil sector is beset by bribery allegations against officials, tax-related cases abroad that cost the government millions in legal fees, and the alleged interference of a president whose firm control of the sector worries transparency campaigners. But some experts and analysts worry that the country got off to a false start and remains too politically unstable to avoid some of the mistakes made by other oil-rich but otherwise poor countries.
