EPA grant to help assess Detroit brownfield sites

The Wayne County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority has received a $600,000 federal grant to assess about 32 potentially contaminated sites in southwest Detroit. The Environmental Protection Agency grant was announced by County Executive Robert Ficano and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. Ficano says the grant can lead to an uptick in the local economy by helping to turn the sites into "potentially usable, profitable assets."
RI Senate to vote on Chafee's pick to lead EDC

The Senate is scheduled to vote Tuesday on nomination of Marcel Valois for executive director of the Economic Development Corp. Earnings Preview: Gap 1Q results due Thursday

Gap Inc. is expected to report first-quarter results after the markets close on Thursday as the clothing chain's turnaround continues. The report comes as the San Francisco-based clothing retailer, which operates its namesake stores, Banana Republic and Old Navy, has seen its push into brightly colored clothing, new designer collaborations and livelier stores help invigorate sales since early last year.
