RI homeowners get $150M to date in mortgage relief

Rhode Island's attorney general says nearly 2,100 homeowners in the state have received a total of $150 million in relief through the national mortgage settlement but that banks have more to do to comply with the settlement's terms. The average amount of assistance in debt forgiveness, principal refinancing or other programs in Rhode Island is $72,700.

Ky. gov names replacement for tourism secretary

A former gubernatorial aide to three governors will take over as tourism secretary on June 1. Gov. Steve Beshear announced Monday that Bob Stewart is his pick to replace Marcheta Sparrow, who is retiring at the end of the month. Stewart served more than 10 years as Kentucky's commissioner of travel beginning in 1992. He also has served as executive assistant to Govs. Brereton Jones, Martha Layne Collins and Julian Carroll.

William Blair cuts CarMax to "Market Perform"

A William Blair analyst on Tuesday downgraded CarMax Inc. to "Market Perform" from "Outperform," saying that sales expectations for the used car dealership chain may be too high and pointing to the steep increase in its share price. "Admittedly, our downgrade could be early, as absolute sales trends remain strong so far in the May quarter," Zackfia wrote in a note to investors.

Biogen submits new MS drug for FDA approval

Specialty drugmaker Biogen Idec said Tuesday it submitted a new injectable multiple sclerosis drug to the Food and Drug Administration for U.S. market approval. Biogen's application includes the first year of data from a two-year study of the drug. The company also plans to submit the drug to the European Medicines Agency in coming weeks
