Big stores nix credit card settlement, file suit

Some of the country's largest retailers, including Target Corp. and Macy's Inc., on Thursday filed a lawsuit against MasterCard and Visa, rejecting a settlement reached last year over alleged fee-fixing. A $7.2 billion settlement was reached in July, but some of the retailers rejected it, partially because it includes a provision barring retailers from filing future lawsuits over swipe fees. Some retailers also have argued that the settlement amount was far less than what they deserved and might have won at trial.

StealthGas 1Q net income down as expenses increase

StealthGas Inc., a Greek ship owner serving the liquefied petroleum gas market, said Thursday that its first-quarter net income fell 12 percent as expenses rose, but revenue increased slightly, surpassing Wall Street's expectations. Excluding special items, the company earned $5.3 million, or 25 cents per share.

Jurors sided with the real estate mogul-turned-TV showman in a weeklong civil trial focused on Jacqueline Goldberg's claim that Trump cheated her in a condo bait-and-switch scheme. The federal jury in Chicago returned with a finding in Trump's favor. Goldberg, of Evanston, had sought various damages totaling around $6 million.
