Ralph Lauren's 4Q profit rises 35 pct

Ralph Lauren Corp. is reporting a 35 percent increase in fourth-quarter profit, but economic challenges here and abroad and certain strategic initiatives cut into sales. Revenue rose a slim 1.2 percent to $1.64 billion. Analysts had expected earnings of $1.31 per share on revenue of $1.7 billion. The company expects revenue to be up in the low single digits for the current quarter and anywhere from 4 percent to 7 percent for the full year.
Sammy Hagar faces appeal of tossed defamation case

A former Playboy bunny who claims Sammy Hagar fathered her now-deceased child is appealing a ruling that dismissed her lawsuit against the former Van Halen frontman. The Iowa woman, identified in court records as Jane Doe, filed the appeal Wednesday. A judge ruled that Hagar didn't defame the woman when he accused her in his 2011 memoir of falsely naming him as the baby's father in order to extort money. The judge noted Hagar didn't mention the woman by name and that she failed to prove the book injured her.
Ohio injection well operator fights state action

A northeast Ohio injection-well operator whose former senior officer faces federal charges of violating the Clean Water Act told a state regulatory panel Wednesday that the company can't be blamed for the acts of "a bad person." Cyphert said commissioners need to ask themselves who Lupo was acting on behalf of, and who his actions benefited _ and the answer will not be D&L.
