W.Va. jobless rate declines to 6.2 percent in May

West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May inched down to 6.2 percent. That's down from the April rate of 6.6 percent, which was the lowest in four years. WorkForce West Virginia said Tuesday the number of unemployed fell by 3,300 to 50,200. Employment gains were recorded in mining and logging and manufacturing, while the service sector recorded a couple hundred job losses.
NJ lawmakers preparing for budget hearings

Democratic lawmakers in the New Jersey Senate say they expect to reach a bipartisan deal on a $32.9 billion state budget by Thursday. That's the day Senate Budget Committee Chairman Paul Sarlo plans to hold a committee hearing on the proposal for the fiscal year that starts July 1. Sarlo says he's confident the Senate, Assembly and governor's office will be able to close the deal. He says budget language still has to be worked out.
Grain futures mostly rise, beef prices fall

Grains futures mostly rose Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat for July delivery rose 7 cents to $6.875 a bushel; July corn rose 4.75 cents to $6.7325 a bushel; July oats rose 1.25 cent to $3.9775 a bushel; while July soybeans fell 1.75 cent to $15.1075 a bushel. Beef prices fell, while pork prices rose on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Assisted by basketball, ABC wins ratings week

Basketball and talent shows commanded TV viewers' attention last week. The Nielsen Co. said three nights of NBA finals were the most-watched shows in prime time. They helped ABC, which aired them, to win the week overall. NBC's Monday edition of "The Voice" was right behind in fourth place, with the Tuesday edition of the singing competition claiming sixth place for the week. Tucked in between was "America's Got Talent" on NBC.
