Newly found Pearl S. Buck book is to be published

A newly discovered novel by the late Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck is to be released this fall. The publisher announced the decision Wednesday, describing the book as the coming-of-age story of a gifted young man whose search for meaning leads him to New York, England, Paris and Korea. Buck's novel "The Good Earth" won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932 and helped earn her the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. She raised seven adopted children and wrote many later works at her farm outside Philadelphia.
US rate on 30-year mortgages rises to 3.59 pct.

Average rates on fixed mortgages rose for the third straight week, hitting their highest levels since mid-March. Still, mortgage rates remained close to historic lows, a trend that should help sustain the housing recovery. The average on the 15-year loan jumped to 2.77 percent. That's up from 2.69 percent last week. The record low of 2.56 percent was hit on May 2.
Sector Snap: Casino stocks fall on China worries

Shares of casino companies took a hit Thursday as the broader stock market declined due to fears a slowdown in China's economy. A sustained slowdown in China would rattle the sector with double-digit gaming revenue from Macau. Macau, an hour from Hong Kong by high-speed hydrofoil ferry, is a key market for casino operators such as Las Vegas Sands Corp., Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Resorts International, which are investing heavily in new casino resorts.
