ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The prospects for Atlantic City's crumbling casino market are worsening. All sides scrambled to regroup from the collapse Wednesday of a deal to sell the former Revel Casino Hotel to a Canadian firm. About 3,000 jobs would be lost in a shutdown. A Delaware bankruptcy judge scheduled a hearing on whether the parent company of the struggling Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort should be liquidated. Trump Entertainment Resorts has said it will close the casino Dec. 12. The liquidation hearing is set for Dec. 4.

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut employers added 3,600 jobs last month, the eighth monthly gain this year as the state recovers from the worst recession in decades, the state Labor Department announced Thursday. Employment in the state has grown by 23,000 jobs over the year, with the jobs recovery now extending 56 months, an average of about 1,570 jobs a month since February 2010.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday that it would be "impractical" at this time for the Buffalo Bills to host the New York Jets on Sunday because of a lake-effect snowstorm that continues to hit the region. "If you ask me today, right now, my sense is it's impractical to do the game because it would jeopardize public safety," Cuomo said. "Everybody would love to see a Bills game go forward, but I think even more, everybody wants to make sure public safety comes first."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is recognizing achievements in science, technology and innovation by handing out medals for achievements in those fields. The recipients include researchers working on such projects as DNA replication, mathematical statistics and personalized medicine. Also recognized was the inventor of what's known as a flash or thumb drive. Obama brandished one of the devices at the ceremony.
