NEW YORK (AP) — Argentina's negotiations with creditors to resolve a dispute over $1.5 billion in unpaid debts remained deadlocked following talks Friday, setting it on a course for a possible catastrophic default next week. Following a U.S. judge's order, Argentina can't pay investors who accepted lower-valued bonds after its record $100 billion default in 2001 unless it also pays off creditors who didn't participate in previous bond swaps.

Barnes Group 2nd-quarter profit drops 86 percent; adjusted profit rises but shares drop

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Barnes Group Inc. (B) on Friday reported net income that declined by 86 percent in its second quarter due to a one-time gain from the sale of a business in last year's period. The results matched analysts' expectations. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs and one-time items such as last year's gain from the business-unit sale, were 59 cents per share, up from 47 cents per share in last year's quarter. The average per-share estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for profit of 59 cents in the latest quarter.

Federal agency taking comments as it looks at possible lease sale in Arctic waters off Alaska

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A federal agency is testing the waters on a possible lease sale in the Alaska Arctic. The planning area covers approximately 64.8 million acres of the Beaufort Sea off Alaska's north coast. Bureau spokesman John Callahan said this is the first step in a long process, and no decision has been made on whether to go ahead with a lease sale. If a sale is held, the agency is looking at it happening in 2017.

Southern California UPS driver charged with stealing dozens of guns to sell on black market

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California UPS driver has been arrested after federal agents say he stole dozens of guns to sell them on the black market. A federal indictment this week alleges that Hays stole packages at the UPS shipping hub in Ontario. They contained rifles, pistols and shotguns intended for delivery to a sporting goods store.
