Complaint accuses Exxon Mobil of anti-gay bias

A gay-rights group has filed a legal complaint against the Exxon Mobil Corp., accusing it of anti-gay discrimination in handling job applications. The complaint says Exxon was sent two nearly identical resumes for a job opening in Illinois. The only major differences: one applicant made clear she was a gay-rights activist, and had higher grades than the other applicant.

Stocks rise on Fed stimulus hopes, home sales

Stocks are moving higher after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said it was too soon for the central bank to pull back on its massive economic stimulus programs. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 108 points at 15,495 points as of noon Wednesday, an increase of 0.7 percent. It was up 40 points before Bernanke started speaking at 10 a.m.
